Create a database
Create a managed MySQL, PostgreSQL or Valkey database on Drasken Cloud — engine, version, size, password and deletion protection.
To create a database, open Public Cloud → Databases, select Create database, pick an engine, a version and a size, name it and select Create database. It is ready in a few minutes; its Connect tab then shows the address, user and connection strings your apps use.
Step 1: Pick an engine and a version
Choose MySQL, PostgreSQL or Valkey. The recommended version is chosen for you; see Engines and versions. For Valkey, also choose Durable or Cache mode — it can't be changed after the database is created.
Step 2: Choose a size
Pick a tier, then a plan:
| Tier | CPU | For |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Shared CPU | Development and light production |
| General Purpose | Dedicated CPU | Production |
Plans are named by their memory (1 GB, 2 GB, …) and include storage and a maximum number of connections; see Pricing. Custom size lets you choose CPU, memory and storage yourself, up to 4 vCPU and 16 GB of memory. Storage can grow later but never shrink.
Step 3: Name it
- Name: up to 60 characters, shown in the console.
- Short name: 3 to 40 lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, starting with a letter. Permanent.
Step 4: Set the password
Choose Generate a strong password (32 characters, revealed once on the Connect tab) or set your own: 16 to 128 characters, with a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter and a digit.
Step 5: Protection and limits
- Deletion protection: while on, the database can't be deleted. Turn it on for production.
- Maximum connections (optional): from 10 up to the size's maximum.
Step 6: Create
The summary shows the monthly price before GST. Select Create database. The console shows each step the platform works through; the database is ready when its status is Healthy.
