Databases
Passwords, storage and deleting a database
Look after a Drasken Cloud database — deletion protection, storage, metrics and slow queries, and how deleting with a grace period works.
Once a database is running, its tabs let you change its password, set backups, turn deletion protection on or off and watch its metrics, slow queries and logs. Deleting a database is scheduled with a grace period of about three days that you can cancel, and its backups and storage are kept unless you choose otherwise.
How do I watch my database?
- Metrics: CPU, memory, storage and connections.
- Queries: slow queries, so you can see what to index or rewrite.
- Logs: the engine's own log.
- Events: what the platform did and who asked.
- Health & Alerts: its health and any open alerts.
Can I add storage?
Adding storage isn't available from the console yet; contact support if you need more.
What is deletion protection?
A setting on the Settings tab. While it is on, the database can't be deleted — turn it off first.
What happens when I delete a database?
- On Settings, choose to delete it and type its short name to confirm.
- Choose what to keep. Delete volumes and Delete backups are unticked by default, so the data and its backups are kept.
- Schedule deletion deletes it after a grace period of about 72 hours; until then you can cancel. Delete now (also unticked) skips the grace period.
Is a stopped or deleted database charged?
A stopped database is charged for its storage only. Kept backups are listed under Backups.
