Sizes and scaling

Choose an app size on Drasken Cloud, set the number of instances, and scale automatically on CPU and memory.

Each instance of an app gets the CPU and memory of the size you choose, and the price is per instance. You can run a fixed number of instances or let the app autoscale between a minimum and a maximum on CPU or memory use. Change the size or the instances at any time from the app's Scaling tab or More actions → Scale.

Which sizes are there?

SizeCPUMemoryInstances, at most
Nano0.25 vCPU512 MB5
Small0.5 vCPU1 GB10
Medium1 vCPU2 GB10
Large2 vCPU4 GB20
X-Large4 vCPU8 GB20

The console shows the price of each size, before GST, on the create page before you confirm.

CPU is shared: an instance is guaranteed half of its CPU and can use the rest when it is free. The largest number of instances depends on the size. The console lists the sizes available in your project.

How do I set the number of instances?

Under Size & scaling, set Instances (1 up to the size's maximum, at most 20). Traffic to the app's address is spread across its instances.

How does autoscaling work?

Turn on Autoscale and set:

  • Minimum and Maximum instances (default 1 to 3);
  • Target CPU % (default 70, 10 to 95) and, optionally, Target memory %.

The platform adds instances when use stays above the target and removes them when it falls. Advanced scaling sets how fast it scales down and how long it waits before adding or removing instances (by default it adds at once and waits 5 minutes before removing).

How do I know if my app needs more?

The Scaling tab recommends changes, such as Often at maximum instances or Memory is near the plan's limit. Select Apply scaling to apply one.

What does scaling cost?

Each instance is charged for the hours it runs, never more than the size's monthly price per instance. See Pricing.
